Contemporary clown is an art of living, connection, and the present moment. It gives a stage form to our raw humanity – awkward, tender, funny, and moving. It offers a gift to the audience: they themselves become part of the tableau.

Without masks or makeup, it teaches us to stop “pretending to act” and simply be present, letting ourselves be traversed by the moment. It is not an end in itself but a catalyst for presence, creativity, letting go, and freedom of expression. It invites us to transform our limits, emotions, failures, and impulses into something poetic, absurd, or touching. Through play, the ordinary becomes extraordinary, full of surprises, mischief, and imagination.

Short international workshop – 2 days or introductory “Being on Stage”: exclusive clown focus or a mix of clown and stage presence.

A quick and effective immersion to discover or deepen a practice

The workshop addresses two complementary goals:

– Explore the clown, a naive, poetic, and unconventional character.

– Develop stage presence, the art of being yourself on stage with impact and authenticity.

Stage presence differs from clowning, as it is aimed at anyone who wants to perform on stage or speak publicly. It focuses on mutual listening, creativity, spontaneity, letting go, audience interaction, and using vulnerability to serve your performance.

Clowning adds another layer: the performer shares their inner life and emotions with the audience, aiming to communicate what they experience in the moment and touch spectators through every possible means.

These workshops help participants become aware of their body and emotions, step back, dare to show vulnerability, and transform personal experiences into artistic expression. The goal is to connect joyfully with the audience, allowing them to feel what the performer feels and, ultimately, create an immersive and fully engaging experience.

Dare to be a clown and explore the essence of clowning. Training and connection exercises include physical, vocal, and emotional clowning practices, followed by improvisation. Define your clown’s objectives, identify obstacles, and learn to embrace them. Work on energy, interaction, and create the framework for your clown performance. Strengthen your desires, pleasure, conviction, and the challenges of stepping on stage. Refine your characters and clown—voice, body, costume. Expand your range of clowning skills and tools, dare to express authentically and vulnerably, and develop your imagination and creativity. Play with failure, innocence, and limits. End with a relaxation session and/or reflection.

Expand your range of acting, creativity, and communication tools to deepen your clowning skills and become the creator of your own performance, story, and artistic universe. Build, clarify, and refine your clown’s world. Nurture your clowning creativity, self-confidence, and self-realization. Dare to express vulnerability, be authentic, and create meaningful interaction. Discover your clown, develop your clowning performance, share your vulnerability, and engage the audience through genuine connection.

Our Approaches and Tools in Clowning and Stage Presence

Our clown workshops are based on a supportive, encouraging pedagogy, allowing each participant to explore their imagination and spontaneity at their own pace.

We work through:

Body play and improvisation: physical and stage exercises that free creativity, encourage letting go, and develop responsiveness on stage.

Listening and interaction: learning to connect with the audience and scene partners while cultivating authenticity and openness.

Emotions: transforming vulnerabilities, clumsiness, or shyness into sources of artistic expression and shared joy.

Theater and movement tools: techniques from acting, dance, and breathwork to strengthen presence, expressiveness, and self-confidence.

Our goal is to provide a space where everyone can discover themselves differently, dare to be authentic, and reconnect with the simple joy of play.

From Stage Presence to Clown: Creative Awakening and Deep Connection with the Audience

Stage presence differs from clown work because it is aimed at anyone who wants to perform on stage or speak in public. In stage presence, participants develop mutual listening, creativity, spontaneity, letting go, interaction with the audience, and vulnerability in the service of their art.

In clown, an additional layer is added: the performer shares their inner life and emotions with the audience, aiming to convey in real time what they are experiencing on stage and touch the spectators in every possible way.

These workshops help participants develop body and emotional awareness, gain perspective, dare to show vulnerability, and transform personal experiences into art. The goal is to connect with the audience in a way that allows them to feel what the performer feels, creating empathy and offering a fully immersive experience.

Here are some testimonials from our clown workshops.

“I discovered the art of clowning in the 1990s, and since then, it has become the guiding thread of my artistic and human journey. What I love most about clowning is its ability to reveal our authenticity, vulnerability, and joy. Today, I am committed to helping each person explore their stage presence and dare to embrace their uniqueness through this art that I am so passionate about.”
